High-end designers and high-street retailers – beware! It’s time fashion-conscious people are not only getting a whiff of your ‘environmental damage’ practice but are also turning against it! The so-called secretive nature of your sham is slowly crawling out of its shadow and is making way for now ‘positive’, ‘sustainable’ or ‘organic’ fashion as we call it.
Here, we’d like to present to you a few (shocking) facts which you should keep in mind before spending your budget on ‘fast’ trendy clothes and instead, opt for sustainable and more relatable fashion.
Did you know that almost 1% of your dumped clothes actually turn up in a landfill? That’s just for beginners!
These days, new-age designers choose everything from materials to production aesthetics in order to minimize the adverse effects of ‘fast fashion’ and turn towards the importance of quality over compromise. It’s important to know the difference!
Sustainable Fashion + Sustainable Approach = Satisfied Customer!
Like every movie has endless sweat and tears to produce it, so is every garment to make you look good. The joy of wearing ‘sustainable’ clothes isn’t limited to exclusivity but actually wearing quality artsy pieces which will last you a lifetime.
Your life is always a reflection of your choices (good or bad) and that’s true for your clothes as well.
Designers are now choosing sustainable techniques/materials to design ‘positive’ clothes. Anything from minimal waste design, made to order pieces, reproducing old clothes, using environmentally-friendly fabrics or recycled materials is their go-to method.
Even those traditional artisans must be crying tears of joy after heavy-duty machines have been getting the big snub and they have been thriving ever since. After all, do wear fashion on your sleeve but isn’t it better if someone hand-stitched your glamour quotient and you look more elegant?
You won’t believe but even the ocean plastic pollution is a direct result of those polyester-materials we wear so often!
Of course when you wear those expensive woolly jackets, fur coats or animal-derived prints, you look all pretty but you just killed an innocent animal for that! Abandon animal-derived materials such as leather, bones, wool, silk, and exotic skins to unfollow this sick cause.
Now animal lovers should listen carefully!
Last but not least, have you cottoned on yet?!
Opting for organically grown is a better choice as it uses fewer pesticides and insecticides for production. This reduces the natural damage to the environment and farmers who grow them as well. Zara and Burberry are opting for it!
